Our Story

Hi, I'm Maddy, owner and operator of Obsidian Bookhouse. I started working on OB while going through cancer treatment and quarantined from radiation. Obsidian Bookhouse is so much more than a bookstore, but a place of community and care. I want each order to feel like it was hand crafted for you (because it is!) and bring some joy into your home.

Obsidian is a crystal known for its deep grounding and blockage releasing abilities. It can also be used to transforming negative energy and clearing the way for new paths. It is a stone for protecting, grounding, community, and growth.

This business is dedicated to all of my life long friends I met during my Summer 2023 mental health partial hospitalization. You know who you are. Without you, I wouldn't still be around to make this possible. Thank you for bringing me back to the light and grounding me- just as obsidian does.
